Mary was a daughter of Warham Easley and Mariam Murphree. She married Joel Cornelius February 1, 1832 in Blount County Alabama. She was the fifth of seven known children born to Warham and Mariam Murphree.

Joel married Rachel Davis in 1876; thus Mary probably died 1870-1876.

She was the mother of nine known children: William Thomas, Solomon, Sarah Ann, Cynthia Ann, Nancy Syrena, Miriam Ann, Elijah Benson, Moses Andrew and Meredith.

Though Joel and Polly did not live to see all of their grandchildren, they were grandparents to sixty-one known children.
