Mary Katherine Stone was born in Cincinnati, Washington, Arkansas in 1877 to Alvin Calvin Beatty 1833-1899 and Martha Ann West 1843-1899.
By 1880 they had moved to Audubon, Wise, Texas and there she met James Columbus "Lum" Stone and they married and had children. Mary Katherine's life was cut short in a tragic accident when her clothing caught fire and she burned to death. She is buried in Pella Cemetery near her parents A.C. Beatty and Martha Ann West Beatty.
