Luciano "Lucky" Lopez, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away Nov. 9, 2009. He was born Jan. 11, 1930, in Harshaw, Ariz., and was a 24-year resident of Nevada. Lucky served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a miner for 47 years. Lucky was married to Frances Lopez for a beautiful 61 years. They had five children; 18 grandchildren; and 13-great-grandchildren. Luciano served as an usher at St. Christopher Catholic Church, in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed pitching horseshoes competitively, and bowled on a league for many years. Lucky enjoyed the simple things in life, his wife by his side and surrounded by family and friends was his ultimate joy - his laugh was vibrant and his smile was warm. "We take great comfort in knowing we will see you again, Partner ... we love you so very much." He was preceded in death by his parents, Luciano and Josesa; brothers, Jose and Pablo; and sisters, Maria, Libby and Socorro. Lucky is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Frances; children, Julian of Los Angeles, Eddie of Las Vegas, Oscar of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Rudy of Las Vegas, and Irene of Las Vegas; siblings, Vicente Lopez, Sister Maria Lucinda, Ester Gomez and Lucia Acevedo. Viewing will be noon-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, with Rosary at 5 p.m., both at Palm Mortuary-Downtown, 1325 N. Main St. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St., in North Las Vegas. Graveside service will follow at Palm Memorial Park - Las Vegas.
