Sarah J. Stuart Kessler was the daughter of Catharine Flory and Robert Stuart. b. 2 Sepot 1828 Wythe Co., VA d. 26 June 1906; She married Daniel Black Kessler in Sagamon Co, ILL on Aug 5, 1850.

They had the following children: , Mary (Wallace), Laura (Edwards), William, Arminda (Barding), Charlotte (Hunt), Nancy ("Nannie" Osman), Julia, Margaret and Sarah. Four others died in infancy.

Daniel was a farmer, principally in Talkington Township, near Auburn, ILL. It is not known whether Sarah was deaf, but all of their daughters became deaf at an early age. They were members of the Auburn Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
