ROBERT HOLLAND ASKREN

Robert Holland Askren, son of James N. Askren and Anna Belle Russell, was born April 11, 1889, near Superior, Nebr. and departed this life on June 10, 1965, at the age of 76 years and two months.

He was united in marriage to Emma R. Long at Chariton, on September 4, 1913. To this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter: Arleigh Askren of Des Moines; Jesse Askren of Chariton; and Mrs. Gordon (Leda) Maddy of Sheffield, Ill. Besides the children and his wife he leaves to mourn his passing 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, many relatives and a host of friends.

He accepted the Lord as his Savior in young manhood and joined the Methodist church. In later years he joined the First Baptist church in Chariton, where he served faithfully as Deacon for years.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three brothers and one sister.

Services were conducted Sunday, June 13, 1965, at 2:30 p.m. at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor John Bauserman officiating. Interment was at Oakdale cemetery.
