Pemberton, Ethel C.,
The entire community was shocked and grieved to learn that Mrs. W. S. Pemberton had died early Wednesday morning. The occasion of death was due to puenperal eclampsia, the illness being of very short duration. Deceased was born in this district 27 years ago and her parents, Mr. & Mrs. M. F. Adams, are pioneers of Harrington and reside here at the present time. Some seven years ago Ethel married Dr Pemberton and they have made their home here since. The young couple had become one of the substantial families of Harrington and were prominent in the life of the town. The absence of this young matron from the community will be greatly felt. She was a devout member of the Catholic church and her life was an illustration of the ideal Christian character. Deceased is survived by a husband, two daughters, the youngest being a baby a day old, a father and mother, one sister Marguerite, and six brothers: Wade, who is now in France, Hubert, Robert, Guy, Bertrand and Eli. On account of the influenza epidemic it was not possible to hold a public funeral. In view of this condition a private funeral service was held Thursday morning at the Catholic church, the Rev Father McAleer, officiating. The casket was wreathed in flowers the gifts of sorrowing friends. Burial occurred in the Harrington Cemetery brief services being held. (Citizen-13 Dec 1918)
