Henry Taylor Dies Suddenly

The announcement of the death of Henry Taylor on Thursday evening of last week came as a shock to the people of Fairmount. He had been engaged during the day in helping one of his neighbors butcher. He had returned home in the evening and had gone to the cellar to put away some meat. A few minutes later he was found there by a member of the family laying unconscious on the floor. Dr. Leitzbach was summoned, but when he arrived he found life extinct. Mr. Taylor was apparently in his usual health and death resulted from heart failure.

William Henry Harrison Taylor was born near Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio, on Sept. 15, 1840 amd died in Fairmount, Vermilion County, Ill. on Jan. 23, 1913, aged 72 years, 4 months, and 8 days.

In 1861 he was united in marriage to Ellen Snyder. To this union in marriage was born ten children; 7 sons and 3 daughters. Arthur died at the age of 16, Henry at age of 8, and one died in infancy. The seven living are Daniel H. of Sheridan, Ill.; William of Port Arthur, Texas; Mrs. John Fifer of Xenia, Ohio; Albert of Columbus, Ohio; Frank of Washington, Ohio; and Mrs. Charles Cambell of Warren, Ind. The wife died in June, 1880. On Dec. 24, 1896 he was again married to Matilda Certain of Tilton, Ill. To this union was born one child, Sherman, now 15 years of age. He is survived by a wife, 8 children, 17 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. The brothers are Jacob Taylor of Conkeytown, Hickmad Taylor of Washington, D. C., and the sister is Mrs. Sarah Erskin of Greenfield, Ohio.

When a young man Mr. Taylor united with the Newlight Christian Church of Boston, Ohio. He was an excellent citizen, respected by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. D. Murphy. Internment took place in the Davis Cemetery west of Fairmount.
