Funeral services were held for Lawrence S. Shoeman on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at Tracy Presbyterian Church. Pastor David Erickson officiated. Organist was Allan Pierson.

Honorary casket bearers were Hugh Gibson, Leo Shoeman, Joe Smarzyk, Harold Shoeman and Paul Rignell.

Lawrence S. Shoeman was born September 4, 1912 to Walter and Effie (Campbell) Shoeman in Waukee, IA. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian faith and attended grade school in Waukee. His family moved to Walnut Grove, MN when Lawrence was 10 years old and onto Tracy, MN at the age of 12. He attended Tracy Public Schools and graduated from Tracy High School in 1929, following that he attended one year of Business College.

On April 17, 1937 Lawrence married Evelyn Casselman in Tracy, where they made their home. He worked a short time for Kenly Electrical and in March of 1944 he was inducted into the United States Navy. Lawrence was stationed in San Diego, CA at the US Naval Repair Base where he was a machinist's mate, 2nd class. He was discharged November of 1945 and he and his wife made their home in Tucson, AZ. Lawrence returned to active duty in the US Navy in May of 1951 serving on the USS Windham Bay as an electrician until his discharge in August of 1951. He returned to Tucson where he and his wife lived until 1957 when they moved back to Tracy, MN. While living in Tracy, Lawrence worked for Mayer Electrical out of Minneapolis, MN until the mid 60's. He then owned and operated Shoeman Electrical in Tracy until retirement in the mid 70's.

Lawrence was a member, as well as an Elder, of the Tracy Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, having held the position of Grand Master, a member of the Tracy American Legion, Tracy VFW and a card holding member of the Electrician's Union IBEW for 55 years. Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, antique collecting and golf.

In June of 2002 Lawrence entered the Tracy Nursing Home where he died Friday, December 13, 2002 at the age of 90.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Evelyn; one son, Don (Janice) Shoeman of Shoreview, MN; one daughter, Kathleen (William) Ivatts of Sharon, MA; one sister, Kathryn Stapleton of Revere, MN; two brothers, Leo and Harold both of Tracy, MN; two granddaughters, Anna Shoeman and Laura Brinkman; nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents and one infant sister preceded him in death.

Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling arrangements.
