Ichabod was the son of Amos Beardsley and Abigail Hall of Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut.Ichabod Beardsley served in the American Revolution, enlisting in 1781 at Stratford, CT, as a private in Lt. William Hale's company of the Connecticut militia. His company's duty was to guard the coast from Newfield (Bridgport) to Black Rock and Greens Farms. He was in several skirmishes with the enemy. Ichabod was only 14 years old when he enlisted, but according to later deposition, he was "large and athletic for his years and was fit and able." The accts of land property both real and personal afterrepaying the expenses and paying all my debts shall be equally divided amongmy five children (with the exception of Noah who is to him three hundreddollars more than his equal division.) Lorama, Noah, Ransom, Theodoria andJonathan.2nd: I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends Noah Beardsley andBenoni Brown executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking allother wills by me made. That deponent took the will & kept the sameuntil he handed it to Benoni Bown one of executors named in the will. Thatdeponent never read the will but delivered it to Mr. Brown in the samecondition that deponent received. John B. HardenburghSubscribed, sworn examined this 29th of June 1849 before me Alfred WellsCounty Judge.Benoni Brown being first duly sworn deposes & says that he resides in the Townof Lansing. That he received the last will and testament of Ichabod Beaardsleyfrom John B. Hardenburgh. And I the said County Judge being satisfied upon said proof takenthat the said will was duly executed that the said testator at the time ofexecuting the same was in all respects competent to divide real estate & notunder restraint - do therefore allow said will, proof & examinations to berecorded.
