Ella Jordan Nesbit was born on March 17, 1873 or June 17, 1874(which is more likely as her obituary in April 1965 said she was age 90) in Fayette County, Pennyslvania. Her parents were Benjamin Jordan (born April 1841, PA, died December 20, 1915 in Fairchance, Fayette County, Pennsylvania) and Margaret M. Wood (born June 1843 in PA, died July 16, 1916 in Fairchance, Fayette County, PA), both are buried in White Rock Cemetery, Fairchance, PA, and they were married in Fayette County, Pennsylvania on July 3, 1862.

Ella Jordan married James Wesley Nesbit in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania on January 31, 1892. He was born October 5, 1872 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania,and died after 1920 by 1930, probably in McKeesport, Pennysylvania, Allegheny County. His parents were James A. Nesbit / Nesbitt (b. August 23, 1850, Pennsylvania, died April 5, 1900, unknown for sure where buried, and mother- Sarah Emmel Nesbit- b. Sept. 15, 1844 or 1846, died 1925 in PA, buried in Highwood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, PA, Allegheny County (photo of her grave is in find-a-grave record # 108355295) also buried in Highwood Cemetery is sister of James Wesley Nesbit- Maud N. Nesbit Shepler (b. Jan. 25, 1875, d. 1953, find-a-grave record 108355295)and her husband John K. Shepler. Grandparents of James Wesley Nesbit were James A. Nesbit- born Feb. 1820 in Pennsylvania, died August 19, 1901, buried Unity Cemetery, Latrobe, Pennyslvania, Westmoreland County, and Mary A. [Ridinger] Nesbit- b. Aug. 28, 1826,in PA, died October 2, 1898, buried in Unity Cemetery).

Hammond Times, Hammond, Indiana, Friday April 9, 1965, page A-8, column 2--- NESBIT--- Mrs. Ella Nesbit, age 90, of 7525 Birch Ave., Hammond, died Thursday at her home.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Florence Mann [note- widow of Harry Mann, Florence died in Lake County, Indiana about Sept. 3, 1975, husband Harry Mann died in Lake County, IN about June 27, 1964], with whom she resided, 12 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 24 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Friends may call at the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedey Ave., Hammond, from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday.

A Calumet Region resident for 25 years, Mrs. Nesbit was a member of the Harbor Christian Church in East Chicago.--- End of 1st obit---

Survivors: 1 daughter, Mrs. Florence Mann, with whom she made her home; 15 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great granddaughter. Funeral services Monday April 12, at 2 p.m. from the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedey Ave., Hessville, with Charles Race, Minister of Harbor Christian Church officiating. Burial, Elmwood Cemetery. Friends are invited to call today 2-5 and 7-10 p.m.

Note that the Calumet Region mentioned in her 1st obit refers to northwest part of northern Indiana in Lake County, with towns of Crown Point, Hammond, Gary, Merrillville, Schererville, Hobart, etc. So it appears that Ella Nesbit moved from Pennsylvania to Lake County, Indiana about 1940.

Ella's daughter Stella married Jesse B. Tauber in 1909 in McKeesport, PA, Allegheny County, and their son Joe Tauber (b. Feb. 18, 1918 in PA, died July 14, 1971, Dyer, IN, Lake County but lived in Griffith, IN) married my mother's 1st cousin- June Irene [Adams] Tauber Griffith (died June 2012). They had 2 sons- Jesse Tauber and James Garfield "Gary" Tauber, both still living. Ella Jordan Nesbitt is buried in the same cemetery as her daughter Stella Nesbit Tauber.
