Jacob was born 14 October 1816 in what is now Monroe County, Pa. the son of John G Yeisley and Salome Kemmerer. He moved with his parents to what is now Ashland County, Ohio sometime during the 1820's and grew up there. In about 1840, he married Julia Ann Hush, the daughter of Valentine G. Hush and Martha Blackburn, in Licking County, Ohio. Jacob and Julia had 5 children; Emanuel b 11/12/1840, Martha S. b 12/12/1843, Peter b 6/1/1847, Miles b 6/22/1849, and John Paul b 11/12/1851.
Julia died 7/18/1888 in Van Wert County, Ohio. Jacob died later in Licking Co, Ohio on 3/12/1902.
What is known of Jacob and Julia comes from an autobiography of his eldest son Emanual contained in a book of Emanuel's son Ira Yeisley's Family History. Emanuel's autobiography typed exactly as written by Emanuel starts out as follows:
Born in Amsterdam, Licking Co., Ohio lived there until I was two years old then Father & mother moved to Ashland Co. Ohio lived there three years then mooved to Delaware Co. Ohio from thence to Van Wert Co. Ohio I was 11 years old then there I lived until the war of the Rebellion broke out.
