EMILY - Virl Eugene Fletcher, 82, Emily, died March 10, 2006, at home.
He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Emily Township to Golden and Etta (Wiener) Fletcher. He married Phyllis Chenevert on Oct. 8, 1948, in Emily.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; six sons, Bruce (Paula) Fletcher, Emily, Ted Fletcher (Sandy Dalton), McGrew, Neb., Terry Fletcher, Mankato, Dale (Linda) Fletcher, Lamar, Mo., Kenneth Fletcher, Big Lake, Edward (Sue) Fletcher, Good Thunder, Minn.; daughter Marjorie (Jim) Parks, Bayard, Neb.; five brothers, Donald Fletcher, Gus (Wanda) Fletcher, Robert (Hazel) Fletcher, Jerry (Nancy) Fletcher, all of Emily, Daniel (Marie) Fletcher, Crosby; three sisters, Ila Stangel, Sonosa, Mexico, Joyce Johnson, Post Falls, Idaho, Linda (Michael) Hilgers, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald Fletcher, sister Verla Mongan and grandson Dale Fletcher.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Wesleyan Church in Emily. Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery in Emily with full military honors by the Myrin James American Legion Post No. 443, Ironton. Friends may call on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.
Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
