William was the son of Nicholas Michael & Mary Elizabeth (ELLIS) EVERS and Grandson of William Gerherdt & Elizabeth (SCHOMMER) EVERS.

A rosary will be recited for William J. Evers, 83, of El Cajon, at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in Erickson-Anderson Mortuary. A Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery. He died Friday in a convalescent hospital.

Mr. Evers was born in Minneapolis and lived in the county 57 years. He was an engineer and a firefighter with the San Diego Fire Department for 20 years and was a self-employed contractor for 20 years. He was a member of the San Diego Fireman's Relief Association and a member of the church.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen; two sons, William of El Cajon and John of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two daughters, Kathleen Leckrone of Bridgeport, Conn., and Judy Gavotto of El Cajon; two brothers, Ellis of Taylor, Ariz., and Harold (Brother Virgil) of Napa; two sisters, Charlotte Hanson of Paradis and Marie McCarthy of San Diego; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
