Carried Away By Angels

Mrs. Mary N. Barber, wife of our brother and deacon, S. Barber, has gone home. Her gentle spirit took its upward flight, conducted by God's angels, whose busy task is to convey his saints from climes of sorrow and death, to climes of glory and blessing about 4 o'clock November 13. Aged 71 years, 9 months and 13 days. She had long been deprived of Sabbath privileges by lingering and trying disease, so the Lord sent for her in time to spend last Lord's day in Heaven.

Sister Barber was a native of Kentucky. Her father was living in Alton, Ill.' when, at sixteen years of age, she yielded all to Jesus and took Him as the Savior of her soul and her guide through life. In 1875, with her husband and family, she removed to Texas and settled near Gonzales. She was the mother of twelve children, hal of whom survive her.

Sister Barber was true and faithful in all her relations and to all the obligations that devolved upon her. Her fond husband, who in business and in religion had so long enjoyed her wise and helpful counsels, will sorely miss her when the way seems hard and dark; for she always came to his rescue as true helpmeet rom God.

She was characterized by her genuineness, by quiet womanly modesty, by her unobtrusive nature, and her life was adorned with the virtues of noble womanhood as well as with the graces of Heaven. Long had she been waiting the summons that came so suddenly.

we laid her loved remains to rest in the Odd Fellows' cemetery, with the words on our hearts with fresh meaning, "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord."

Yes, dear sister, thou art free,
From toll and pain and care;
Now with the ransomed thou dost see
All the rich glories there.

We, too will come when the Lord commands,
And join with saints and angels bands.
