Dorothy L. Gherna, 77, of Canon City died at St. Thomas More Hospital Sept. 21, 1993. She was born Jan. 20, 1915, at Columbia, Mo., to Joel Curtis and Virginia (Stone) Acton. Mrs. Gherna was a resident of Canon City the past 39 years, previously living in Florence, Salida and Canon City. She moved to Colorado from Missouri in 1926. She was a homemaker and preferred the Protestant faith. She was married March 21, 1932, in Cripple Creek to John B. Gherna, who survives. She is also survived by two sons; a daughter; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law; a brother; Ivan C. (Maxine) Acton, Colorado Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gherna was preceded in death by a son, Thomas C. Gherna, in 1967. Services Friday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. at the Florence Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Fred Kitch officiating. Interment will be in Union Highland Cemetery.
