Oliver Thomas Harrelson, youngest child of Archie Edgar and Amanda Elizabeth (Smith) Harrelson was born August 3, 1914 at Romney, Texas. He attended schools at Romney, Nimrod, and Scranton. The family had moved to Nimrod about 1928. They were Baptists.
Oliver and Lillian Lucille Stansell were married May 22, 1938 by the Reverend Nugent Baldree. They lived in Cisco, where Lucille was teaching. Lucille was losing her eyesight so she had to quit teaching (in 1940). They moved to the old Harrelson farm at Nimrod. Oliver farmed and did custom hay baling. They were members of the Nimrod Baptist Church.
All five of their children were born in Gorman. Phillip Lorring was born March 25, 1941. Rodney Allen was born January 25, 1946. Nelda Ruth was born September 14, 1948. James Edgar "Jimmy" was born June 9, 1951. Sharon Gay was born September 2, 1952. Phillip and Rodney went to school in Scranton. Later they, and the younger children, attended Cisco schools.
