David was the son of James Sidney & Helena Victoria (Wagner) Borland. He married Della Magel Pierce on Oct. 6, 1909 at Peterson, IA. They had 4 children: Wendell, Howard James, Helena Virginia, and Beverly.
Dick was active in Lodge work and Delle was active in church and neighborhood affairs. The Borland family moved to Hancock, Minn. in 1922 to farm a much larger farm with a very large house, a furnace, and a cistern pump. They moved back to Iowa in 1932....
They stayed on the farm until failing health forced them to move to Sunset Apts. in Spencer in 1968. Dick spent the last two years at St. Lukes Nursing Home until his death in Oct., 1972.
