Wife of Warren Jackman

Niagara County News December 9, 1881
Jackman - Malenda Blodgett was born in Murray, Orleans County, N.Y., July 1, 1821. After the death of her mother, in the summer of 1841, she went to Alexander, Genessee County, N.Y., to live with her brother, Herman Blodgett, until May 6th, 1844; when she was united in marriage with Warren Jackman, and they went to Crystal Lake, McHenry County, Ill., intending to make that place their permanent home: - but, owing to a severe attack of Bronchitis in 1847, which continued with great severity, they were in April 1851 induced to return to their native state. They lived in Elma, Erie County, N.Y., until April, 1867, when they came to this place, (Youngstown), where she has resided until her death. In every place where she has lived, she (was)surrounded with kind and loving friends.
Through all the years, since 1847 it has been a hard struggle against the disease which was finally to overcome and take her away.
In the winter of 1842, she obtained through faith in Christ, a knowledge of the power and goodness of God in the forgiveness of sins; and thenceforth her life was one of trust and confidence in her Redeemer. She "knew that, if her earthly house of this tabernacle was dissolved, she had a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." In this hope she peacefully went to rest, in the early Sabbath morning of Dec. 4th, 1881.
She leaves a husband, one daughter, Mrs. Alice J. Holden, and four grandchildren, to mourn her loss; besides many personal friends, who deeply sympathize with the bereaved family, in this hour of affliction.
The funeral servie, conducted by Rev. John Reid, pastor of Presbyterian Church, was held at the house, and the remains interred in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Dec. 6th, 1881.
