Former Resident Is Killed In South
Theo Ackhart, son of Mrs. Eva Ackart of Avoca was electrocuted Wednesday afternoon while doing some carpenter work at New Orleans Louisana. He was recently discharged from the army and was working in New Orleans. The body is to be shipped to Avoca for burial but the funeral arrangements are yet unknown.

Former Resident Brought Here for Burial
Funeral services were held at the Blust Bros. Funeral Home in Avoca Sunday for Theo. Clarence Ackart, 38, who was electrocuted in an accident at New Orleans, La. on Wednesday, July 10.
He was the youngest son of Edward and Eva Ackart and was born at Walnut, April 22, 1908. He attended grade school and two years of high school in Avoca. At the age of 18 he went to Des Moines to learn the barber trade and followed this profession for several years.
He joined the Army in May of 1942 and served his country until the fall of 1945. Most of the time he was stationed in camps in the vicinity of New Orleans. He was honorably discharged from the army with the rank of Sergeant. He was working for a contractor in New Orleans at the time of his death.
Besides his mother, Mrs. Eva Ackart he is survived by two brothers: Arnold of Avoca and Charles of Des Moines; also nine nephews and nieces. His father preceeded him in death on February 8, 1925.
Rev. Ivan Bachtell was in charge of the services. Burial was in Walnut with a color guard and firing squad from the local American Legion post taking part in the graveside services.
