Civil war records: 6th Kansas Cavalry, company E: descriptive roll found at kansasmemory.org: William Beth, age 22, single farmer, with dark hair, blue eyes and a height of 5'11", residing at Fort Scott, Kansas joined 6th Kansas Cavalry on June 26, 1862. He was assigned March 18, 1865 to company G and mustered out of service June 23, 1865 at DeVall's Bluff, Arkansas, with his unit.

He married Mary Ann Beasley Dimon on November 20, 1864 in Bourbon county, Kansas. They had children: Annie Elizabeth ; Catherine; William Thomas; Albert Oran; James; Mary/Mollie/Marian; Henry; Edward; Arthur C; Lee W; Charles William; and Frelyn Earl Beth. This family is found in Kansas State census in Bourbon county, Kansas 1865, 1875, 1885, 1895, 1905, 1915, and 1925.
