A funeral for Adam Burghardt, a Sandy resident, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Sandy Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery. Mr. Burghardt died Wednesday in his home of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 66.

He was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Denver. Mr. Burghardt entered the merchant marine after graduating from high school and served from 1943 until 1969. He moved to the Sandy area after retiring.

He and his wife, Cheri Burghardt, have owned and operated a nursery for the past 20 years.

Survivors besides his wife include sons, Michael of Gaston and David of Portland; brother, Leonard Diehl of Arvada, Calif.; and sisters, Irene Roades of Pennsylvania, Mary Stieb of Lakewood, Colo., and Kathryn Stevens and Margaret Dejulio, both of Denver.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to Mt. Hood Hospice or the American Lung Association of Oregon.
