EASTLAND - Ethel Beatrice "Bea" Smith age 86 of Carbon died Sunday April 4th 2004 at her residence, one day after her husband's Funeral. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 5th, at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rex Boggs, Jim Andrews and Rev. Richard Watson officiating. Interment will be in the Eastland City Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born August 28, 1917 to Martin and Josie Robbins Allcock in Arlington Texas. She married Jack Smith on May 18, 1935 in Rochester Texas and had been married 68 years. Jack died on March 31st, just 4 days prior to her passing away. They have been apart just a short while. Jack was a DPS Trooper and they had lived in several towns, mostly in Seymour where Bea worked as a Clerk for Ferguson Drug Co. and was active in Calvary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School . In 1981 they moved to Eastland where she was active I in the churches where she was a member: First Baptist of Eastland, Mangum Baptist Church, A Charter member of Lake Leon Baptist Church and current membership of Bethel Baptist Church. She has taught Sunday School for 30 years of which she was very proud.
She was preceded in death by; a son, James Harvey Smith; granddaughter, Tammy Hutchens Bryan; parents, Martin and Josie Allcock: two sisters: Oleta Autrey and Juanita Oliver; five brothers, Billy Ray Allcock, Elred Allcock, Allen Allcock, Ezra Allcock, and Preston Allcock.
Survivors are 2 daughters-Patricia & Joyce both of Gorman,dgt-in-law Sonja of Longview,three brothers: Harold & Joe Earl both of Ft.Worth, and Denver of Bastrop,TX; & sister, Wanda Sue Peters of Olton; nine grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren.
