Ruby was the daughter of Oscar & Leetha Barksdale Hamilton.
She was raised in Slocum, Texas. She was a school teacher all her life, completing a degree from Sam Houston Teachers College, Huntsville, Texas. Started teaching at 18, Silver Springs School, south of Slocum, Texas. Myrtle Springs School of the Redtown Community 1940's and 1950's until Myrtle Springs School consolidated with Elkhart Public schools, Elkhart, Texas in 1954.
She stayed there until she retired.
She married Octor Wright from the Precilla area, Houston County, Texas.
They married in May 1938.
They had two daughters;
Nelda and Jo Nell.
