John Johns departed this life on Wednesday at eleven o'clock, aged forty-eight years. The subject of this notice was born in Pennsylvania. He was a shoe-maker by trade; came to Kansas about ten years ago, worked at his trade two or three years in Abilene. He then located on section fourteen of this township where he has since resided, and by hard work and industry he and his family have improved a fine farm and a pleasant home. Mr. Johns had been a cripple for many years. Last winter he was taken down with Bright's disease, from which he never recovered although he was well enough to be up and around this summer, and had made arrangements to visit his old home in Pennsylvania, but on last Sunday he was taken down again and on Wednesday his spirit took its flight to that better land beyond the tomb. His funeral was attended by a large number of sympathizing friends. The services were conducted by Rev. Jonas Priet of Keystone. The deceased was then conveyed to the cemetery near Oak Hill where he was placed in the silent tomb. He leaves a wife and ten children to mourn his loss. Mrs. Johns and family have the sympathy of the whole community.
