Mrs. Armes Dies In Bridgeport

Mrs. Vera Armes, 65, of Bridgeport died Monday in the Bridgeport Hospital.

Services were Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, with burial in Bridgeport Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Chester Armes of Bridgeport; one son, Jimmy Armes of Decatur; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Cheeves of Fort Worth and five grandchildren.

April 3 Services For Vera Armes

VERA BEATRICE (JENNINGS) ARMES passed away April 1, at the Bridgeport Hospital after a short illness.

Funeral services were held in First Baptist Church April 3, with Brother Dan Castleman and Rev. Rutledge officiating. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery.

Mrs. Armes was born July 5, 1907, in West Texas to T. N. and Ida Jennings and lived there until the age of 6, when they moved to Bridgeport. She lived in Bridgeport until her death, and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church.

Married to Chester Armes on January 20, 1924, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, and three brothers.

She is survived by her husband; one son, Jimmy Armes and his wife Nell of Decatur; one daughter, Joyce Cheves and her husband, Norris of Fort Worth; 5 grandchildren; two brothers, Wesley Lee (Mike) Jennings of Boonsville; Wilson H. Jennings of Seal Beach, California; three sisters, Ruth Largent of El Cajon, California, Lora May Fetty and Margaret Barksdale of Bridgeport.

Pallbearers included John R. Cox of Chico, Joe Billingsley of San Antonio, Kenneth Orr of Azle, Harley Holt of Fort Worth, Frank G. Bordner of Bridgeport, and Royce Raven of Grand Prairie.
