Mr. Hobbs was a former welder and a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Sterling Heights, MI. He faithfully served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the High 12 Masonic Lodge and a past Master.
On February 27, 1948, he united in marriage with Opal Taylor in Pineville and to this union three children were born.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Hobbs, on July 6, 2003; a sister, Della Hightower and three brothers, Reed, Willie and Calloway Hobbs.
Survivors include his children, Harold Gene Hobbs and James Michael Hobbs both of Warren, MI and Yvonne Berlinger of Madison Heights, MI; two sisters, Dora Beyersdorfer of Richmond, VA and Flora Weaver of Port Richey, FL; a brother, Bev Hobbs of Girdler; five grandsons, Randy Gene Hobbs, Jeremy Lee Hobbs, Jason Taylor Hobbs, Brantly James Berlinger and Sean Michael Berlinger; four great grandchildren, Mackenzie Lee, Nora, Mason and Dylan Hobbs; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour. His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, October 5 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Earl Hammons officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery. Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
