He was born on November 18, 1917 in Knox County, Kentucky. Willie was a retired Coal Miner and a member of the Greenroad Baptist Church. Willie was a United States Army Veteran, having served during WWII. On November 29, 1946, he united in marriage with Anna Mae Jordan. Along with his parents and wife Anna, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean. Two brothers, Reed Hobbs Calloway Hobbs, and one sister, Della Hightower.
Willie is survived by one son, Wayne Hobbs and wife Janice of Gray, Kentucky. One daughter, Ivalene Hobbs of Corbin, Kentucky. Four Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren. Two brothers, Robert Hobbs of Warren, Michigan, and Bev Hobbs of Cannon, Kentucky. Two sisters, Dora Berastopher of Richmond, Virginia, and Flora Weaver of Fort Richie, Florida. He also leaves behind many other dear family and friends.
Funeral services for Willie Hobbs will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday March 9, 2008 at 2:00pm with Rev. Brian Hacker officiating. Burial will follow in the Mance Hammons cemetery at Greenroad with His Grandson Billy Smith, His Great Grandson Justin Brown II, His Friend Bill Hacker and his Church Family serving as Pallbearers. The Hobbs family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Sunday after 11:00am until the funeral hour at 2:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home.
Church Services at the Greenroad Baptist Church will be Cancelled Sunday March 9, 2008, due to the death of Willie Hobbs.
