John W. Walters
John W. WALTERS, 76, R.R. 6, Rochester, a lifetime resident of this community, died at his home at 6:40 a.m. today after an illness of 10 years. He had been seriously ill for three weeks.
A retired farmer for 14 years, Mr. Walters would have become a 50-year member of the local I.O.O.F. lodge later this year.
Mr. Walters was born in Fulton county Aug. 22, 1881, to Joseph and Kathrine SLIFE WALTERS. His first marriage was to Bertha GRAY, who died in 1935. On May 27, 1937, he was married in Rochester to Norine REED, who survives.
Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Annabell) ALBER, Lucerne; two sons, Paul [WALTERS], 513 East Ninth street, and Raymond D. [WALTERS], South Bend; a step-daughter, Mrs. Earl (Janice) HIATT, Evansville.
Also four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bert (Lula) LEEDY, R.R. 5, Rochester, and Mrs. Charles (Ann) KERR, Bradenton, Fla., and a brother, Charles [WALTERS], R.R.5, Rochester.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Foster & Good funeral home with the Rev. F. I. WILLMERT officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, where lodge rites will be performed. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Thursday.
