From the September 19, 1901 LaFayette Sun:
In Memory of Mrs. Still.
By request, I ask for space for the following few words of sympathy.
Our aunt, Mrs. Elvira Still, wife of Mr. John Still, departed this life on July 12th, 1901 at 2 o'clock. At the time of her death she was 52 years of age. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church at Mt. Hickory. A more devoted wife and loving mother was hard to find, for she was ever watchful of the interests of home. Her life had grown too pure for earthly cares and her Lord took her unto Himself.
Every attention was given her by faithful friends and physician, but disease had done its work. Her body was laid to rest in Mt. Hickory cemetery to await the great reunion at the last day. While she sweetly sleeps beneath the sod the birds sing their sons above her grave. While we sough to keep the frail jewel in its earthly casket, yet God had service for it in the pearly portals of heaven. The flower drooped and faded but is blooming in brighter loveliness in the garden where immortals live forever.
She leaves a loving husband and three children and many sorrowing relatives to mourn for her departure.
May the giver of every good and perfect gift give them resignation to the will of Him who doeth all things well.
The last sad words were fitly spoken at the grave by her pastor, Elder J. T. Satterwhite.
May sweet rest be hers.
A Loving Niece.
