Served in the Revolution from RI. Came first to Hoosic NY and then Pownal VT after the Revolution. Much of his family had relocated just north in Shaftsbury. He was a prosperous miller and farmer in Pownal. In 1805 he was a Methodist. A father of seven girls known for their beauty.


Bottom of stone reads;

A Husband and a Father lies,/ Within this tomb no more to rife/ Till summond from above./ Then from the duft he quick will come/ To meet his God who calls him home/ To sing redeeming love.
