Willetta Lothridge Hatton-Waddle, 85, of Madison, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Hickory Creek of Madison.

She was born March 16, 1924, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Elmer and Gladys Lauderbaugh Lothridge. She was raised in Switzerland County and attended school there. She lived in Decatur County for two years before moving to Jefferson County in 1942. She worked at OVO from 1969 to 1976 in transportation and in the office. She then worked for the Council on Aging Area 12 in transportation. She worked for Oscar Melcher Appliance Shop in the office and as a receptionist for Indiana Heating & Cooling. She most recently worked as a caregiver for several years. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She enjoyed her church, reading the Bible, traveling, and working in flowers and in her garden.

She is survived by five daughters, Carol Renee Hatton, Janet Heeke and Teresa Shipman, all of Madison, Anita Roberts of Commiskey and Debbie Stewart of Milton, Ky.; eight sons, Mark Hatton, Michael Hatton and George Hatton, all of Madison, Gary Hatton of Bedford, Ky., Richard Hatton and Edwin Hatton, both of Lexington, Terry Hatton of Hope, Miss., and Paul Hatton of Hanover; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence Hartford Hatton, whom she married in 1940 and who died in 1968, and Donald Roy Waddle, whom she married in 1971 and who died in 1992; two sons, Darrell and Lawrence Nelson Hatton; her parents; one brother, Keith Lothridge; one sister, Alice Louise Lothridge; and two grandchildren.

The funeral was at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial was in Springdale Cemetery.
