Gayle Brewer Bandy, 68, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Boyle County, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at her home.

Born Thursday, Oct. 3, 1940, in Boyle County, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Allen Carter Brewer and Nina Wilcher Brewer. Mrs. Bandy was a member of Junction City First Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Severens Valley Baptist Church Homebound Program and the Spiritual Friends Group, both in Elizabethtown. Mrs. Bandy was a retired nurse, and she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, being outside and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Gayle (William Kendrick) Nichols of Elizabethtown; sisters, Helen (Robert) Grubbs of Versailles and Dorothy (Morris) McGirr of Danville; and two grandchildren, Ryan Keith and Ellen Lasseter Nichols, both of Elizabethtown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Keith Bandy, who passed away Aug. 2, 1994, and a sister, Carol Sharp.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Denton officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ed, David and Donald Grubbs, Steven McGirr, George Johnson, Roy Lee Phillips and Steve Luttrell. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
