Aunt Pearl was a fixture in my grandparents home until her passing. She seemed ancient from my very first memories of her. Small in stature, but with an iron will. She had been my grandfathers "Protector & Champion" in his childhood and he had promised her a home with him until her death, a promise he kept. She had the ornery cantankerous ways of a typical old woman but he had patience for her when he had none for anyone else. Because of her they survived the depression and were able to restart.
