Marie Amos

Marie Amos, 85, Albany, formally of Cheshire, died Saturday evening at the Russell Nursing Home, Albany.

Mrs. Amos was born in Cheshire, the daughter of the late Niday and Jennie Swisher Scott.

She was a homemaker, a member of the Old Kyger Church, and lived in the Little Kyger community most of her life.

Mrs. Amos is survived by two sons; Galen, Columbus, and Luther, Cheshire; seven daughters, Mrs. Forrest (Jennie) McNeal, Springfield, Mrs. Josiah (Lavada) Barcus, Cheshire, Mrs. Joseph (Lydia) Chestnut, London, Mrs. George (Tracy) DeLozier, Columbus, Mrs. Alfred (Lyvonnia) Young, Pomeroy, Oretha Miller, Bidwell, and Mrs. David (Maxine) Harner, Athens; two step-children, Mrs. James (Mary) Myers and Alva Amos, both of Gallipolis; a sister, Violet Reeves, Killbuck, Ohio; a brother, Wesley Scott, St. Cloud, Fla.; 26 grandchildren; and 37 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Amos was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl; an infant daughter, Delores; a son, Bruce Rogers; two brothers and one sister.

Services will be held Wednesday afternoon, 1 p.m., at the Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, Albany, with the Rev. Lawrence Haskell officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Cheshire.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
