Rosella was born May 22, 1907 in Illinois; she died June 2, 2004 "at home" per her obit. (The SSDI shows her last residence as Davis.) Rosella was the daughter of Charles and Nellie Kemper, and they moved to the Kemper Road property in Auburn in 1909. She attended Rock Creek Elementary School, Placer HS, and Dominican College in San Rafael where she graduated as valedictorian. She was a teacher and writer. She married C. C. (Buck) Winter on June 13, 1931, and survived him by nearly six years. She was survived by her son Richard C. Winter, her daughter Dorothy W. Gietzen; five grandchildren, twelve g-grandchildren, and six g-g-grandchildren.
