- - Pioneer Dies Short Illness - -
James Dearduff, 75, well known pioneer farmer, of Blackford county, died Monday afternoon at 1:10 o'clock at his home, one half mile south of Mollie, following a very short illness caused by heart trouble and high blood pressure.
Wednesday, Mr. Dearduff, was attending to his duties about the farm home as usual.
Thursday, he became ill and his condition became critical from the first. No funeral arrangements had been made late Monday afternoon.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. John Adams, of this city and Mrs. Melvin Rogers, living south of Montpelier; 2 brothers, John of Litchfield, Ill and Tom of Montpelier; and 3 sisters Mrs Martha Barnhardt, of Missouri, Mrs. Stella Coulter of Hartford City and Mrs. Ellen Blair, residing on a farm east of Hartford City.
James Dearduff was born October 30, 1852, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Dearduff, on the farm on which he died, spending his entire life in the county.
In 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Martha Cale, who preceeded him in death only 2 years. Mr. Dearduff was a frequent attendant at the Lutheran Church of this City.
