Funeral services for Stephen Gritts, age 67, of Tahlequah were held at 2pm, Wednesday, at Double Springs Cemetery with Rev. George McGee officiating.
Reed-Culver Funeral Home directed the burial.
Paullbearers were Gabe Medlin, Buck Johnson, Charlie Briggs, M.M. Hall and Ward Ryals.
Gritts, born in Cherokee County April 25, 1894, died Monday in a Tahlequah hospital after a lingering illness. He was a World War I veteran, and a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife Opal of the home; three sons, Jack W. of Tahlequah, Eugene W. of Tulsa, Arlie L. of Broken Arrow and one daughter, Bonnie Arnold, deceased (see: Bonnie Gritts Arnold) of Oklahoma City. Three step-sons, Samuel Craig and Ricky Craig both of Tahlequah, and Howard Craig of Tulsa; Three step-daughters, Shirley Tucker, Maxine Craig and Geneva Craig all of Tahlequah; thirteen grandchildren, four brothers: Levi and Sam on Tulsa, John of Wagoner and Thomas of Tahlequah; two sisters, Maggie Fritts and Pearl Maynard of Tahlequah.
