Savannah Georgian, 31 October 1827, p. 2, col. 5; image, "Newspaper Archives," GenealogyBank (https://www.genealogybank.com : accessed 21 April 2018):
"DIED,
In this city, on the 28th inst., Mrs. MARIA B. CARTER, wife of the Rev. Abiel Carter, and daughter of the Rev. Dr. Beach of New Jersey. In the death of this amiable and exemplary lady, society has been deprived of one of its most valuable members; and a deeply afflicted husband has been called to exercise submission to the dispensations of Almighty God by one of the severest trials of faith. From an early period in her life she had honored the cause of her Lord and Master not only by a devout attendance at the sanctuary, and by uniting with the followers of her Saviour at the sacramental board, but by a life and conversation evincing the ardor of her faith and the sincerity of her piety. In her last illness, the Christian graces appeared in all their lustre. She committed the dearest objects of her earthly affection to the care of her Heavenly Father with lively confidence; and waited with patience her appointed time. Truly 'blessed are the dead that die in the Lord.'"
