Cecil Wayne Schwenke left this world to join his Savior and previously departed wife on Jan. 24, 2008. He was born May 20, 1930, to Louis and Mirl Schwenke in
Guymon, OK.

He graduated Guymon H.S. (1948) and worked for Coca-Cola. He joined the US Navy in 1951 and was stationed at the US Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, IL.

While home on leave, he met his life partner, Mary Frances Gill, whom he married Aug. 23, 1952.

Cecil, Frances and first son, Steve, moved to Bethany in 1954. Cecil attended, what was then Peniel College, where he acquired his Business degree as he worked for Montgomery Ward.

He began teaching at Bethany High in 1959 in typing, bookkeeping, and business machines. A member of the Gideons and Kiwanis, he also was the high school Key Club Sponsor for 20 years, high school principal for 3 years, and spent his spare time “working the gate” at football and basketball games. He retired from Bethany Schools in 1985. Cecil and Frances raised their 3 boys (Steve, Dave, and Tim) and daughter, Cathy, at Westgate/Warr Acres Nazarene Church. He served on various boards there during his 30-year membership before he and Frances transferred to BFC in 1983.

Cecil was preceded in death by his loving wife in 2005. Also preceding him were his parents; brother, Vernon; and sisters, Juanita Bledsoe, and Lorene Murphy.
Cecil spent the last 9 years raising his great-grandson and best friend, Dylan Schwenke. He was his special blessing.

He is survived by sons, Steve and his wife Jacque, David and his wife Elaine, Tim
and his wife Shannon, and daughter, Cathy Allen and her husband Greg. He was blessed with grandchildren, Gayla, Amy, Christy, Beth, Jonathan, Stephanie, Sam,
Michelle, Lindsay, Jordan, Blake, Taylor, Mary Catherine and Christian; and great-grandchildren, Kyla, Karsten, Kennidee, Cartney, Parker, Chandler, and Dylan. Cecil will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Donations may be made to Bethany Schools Foundation or SNU School for Children. Services will
be Mon., Jan. 28, 2:00 pm at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene with interment in Bethany Cemetery.
