HOUSTON, TX - Robbie Auger Watson died on Tuesday, the 19th of January 2010. She was born on the 24th of February 1917, near Farmerville, Louisiana, to Thomas W. and Allie Brantley Auger.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Max P. Watson, after fifty-six years of marriage. She is survived by son John S. Watson and wife Prissy; son Max P. Watson, Jr. and wife Kay; daughter Janet and husband Mark Rohman of Los Angeles, California; brother John A. Auger of Farmerville, Louisiana; sisters Faye Keith of Farmerville, Louisiana; and Ann Ratomsky of Hilton Head, South Carolina. She is also survived by grandchildren Laura Talbert and husband Winston; Greg and Cathy Watson; Anne Loveland; David and Summer Loveland; Kendall Watson; Matt and Shanda Blackmon. She is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Caroline and Emily Talbert; Claire, William, and Gardner Watson; Jake and Sam Blackmon.
Robbie grew up in Union Parish, Louisiana, near Farmerville. She was one of eight children, five of whom earned college degrees. Robbie graduated in 1938 with a degree in Home Economics from Louisiana Tech University, where there are three endowed professorships in her name.
After her marriage, she moved around Louisiana with her husband, who was employed by United Gas his entire business career. They settled in Shreveport, where they raised their children, and moved to Houston, Texas after United Gas was acquired by Pennzoil.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church and the last remaining charter member of the Reading Circle, which she joined in 1976.
