Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the First Methodist Church in Estelline for Mrs. P.M. Bennett, who died early Tuesday morning at the age of 75 years.
Rites were conducted by Rev. Vernon N. Henderson, pastor, assisted by Rev. A.F. Loftin, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Estelline. Interment was in the Estelline cemetery under the direction of King's Mortuary.
Survivors include her husband, P.M. Bennett, and four children, Fred Bennett of Denison, C.C. Bennett of Amarillo, Mrs. Ada Barrett of Estelline, and Mrs. Bessie Stevenson of Anton.
Active pallbearers were Dewitt Eddins, J.L. Darby, Mr. Cobb, Arthur Eddleman, Mr. Hart, and Lonnie Richberg. Honorary pallbearers were J.W. Butler, Mrs. Cowan, S.K. Jones, Grover Ewing, Pete Rigsby, Mr. McCollum, H.S. Parnell, Mr. McDaniels, Lee Wheeler, Elbert Johnson, Bill Wright, Ben Prewitt, Mr. Hutchins, H.L. Chaudoin, Roy Baccus, A. Rodgers, Dr. P.L. Vardy. Flower bearers were granddaughters of Mrs. Bennett.
Mary Jane Allgood was born in Alabama June 29, 1866, and was married to P.M. Bennett in Arkansas June 17, 1888. The Bennett family moved to Texas in 1898 and settled in Comanche County. In 1902, they moved to Hall County and settled at Hulver, and in 1913 the family moved to Estelline where they had lived since that time.
