OBITUARY,
Alice M. Trego was born in Nodaway county, Mo. Jan. 20, 1876. She removed with her paren's to Phillips county, Colorado in, 1888, where she has since resided.

She was educated in the public schools of Mo. and of this state and fitted herself for teaching. After teaching for several terms in the schools of this county in order to more fully equip herself for the profession, she entered the State Normal School at Greeley, Coorado, in the fall of 1898, but was compelled on account of sickness, to return home before the end of the school year.

She was tendered a position in the home district for the following year which she accepted, and in May, 1900, was appointed Deputy County Treasurer of Phillips county, which position she held until the time of her death. She brought to her work both in the school room and in the office such faithfulness and earnestness of purpose as to win for her the approval and respect of these with whom she came in contact.

In early life she chose "that better part" and accepted Christ as her saviour. She was converted and became a member of the First Baptist church of Holyoke in the winter of 1894 since which time she has been an earnest christian worker in her fathers vineyard doing "what her hands found to do."

In her social life she was beloved by all the young people of her acquaintance and her good nature and winning ways made her welcome wherever she went. She was called home Oct. 10, 1900.

She will be missed in the social life, in the business life, in the christian life, in the home, and human intellect might well inquire "why in her youth and vigor is she taken from us." But the kind heavenly father says: "It is enough receive thy reward."

The Beautiful City! O Mortal,
Fare hopefully on in thy quest
Pass down through the green grassy portal
That leads to the Valley of Rest,
There first passed the One who in pity
Of all thy yearning, awaits
To point out The Beautiful City,
And loosen the trump at the gates.
