LaVera N. (Goff) Baer, 85 passed away Friday August 11, 2006 at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. She was born at home near Hepler, KS on April 13, 1921, to Isaac H. and Lula M. Goff and grew up in Hepler, KS.

She graduated from Hepler High School and went to college in Fort Scott, KS.

She married Eugene (Gene) F. Baer on June 26, 1942 in Kansas City, MO. and they lived the majority of their adult lives in and around Olathe, KS. They had three children, Pam, Steve and Loy.

Gene preceded her in death in 2004 just before their 62nd anniversary, and she was faithfully by his side taking care of him through his illness in the last 3 1/2 years of his life.

LaVera was a very loving wife and mother, and a caring friend to many. She loved her many brothers and sisters, their spouses and children and was always grateful for her family and many blessings.

She stayed at home with their children until they were in school, then worked for various businesses in and around Olathe until her retirement in 1986. Sewing, crafts and quilting were only three of her numerous hobbies, and she loved making a cherished quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. One of her greatest pleasures was to give to others. She will be missed by many.

In addition to Gene, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, five half-brothers, and six half-sisters.

Survivors include their three loving children and their spouses: Pam (Baer) and Al Gates, Wheat Ridge CO, Steve and Carol Baer, Monte Vista CO and Loy (Baer) and Charles Jahr, Jr., Olathe, KS; five grandchildren: Chris Spears, Cathy Johnston, Cassy Baer, Wesley Baer, and Stephanie Gross; seven greatgrandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Cooper, Olathe, KS plus nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held a 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, at the PenwellGabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Road, Olathe, followed by interment beside Gene at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, 13901 Blackbob Road, Olathe, The family will receive visitors beginning one hour before the funeral.
