Samantha Jane McCarthy, age 11, died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Nationwide Children's Hospital after a long and couragous battle with Fanconi Anemia and a recent bone marrow transplant.

Sam's experience will help pave the way for medical cures for other children in the future. She would have been a student at Hastings Middle School. She was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. Sam loved music, playing the piano, her friends, and her little brothers.

Survived by loving parents, Dan and Nikki McCarthy; 3 brothers, Finn, Joe and Jack; best friend, Kyra Baker; and the rest of Sam's extended family, Todd, Christiane, Noah and Sophie; grandparents, Joe Feidner, George and Patti Sidner, Marilyn McCarthy, and Jim and Rose McCarthy; aunts, Abby Feidner and Kelly McCarthy; great uncle, Bob Gale; great aunt, Mary Lou (Alan) Brown; cousins, Katie McCarthy, Ben and Andy Brown.

Friends may call at SOUTHWICK-GOOD & FORTKAMP FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3100 N. High St. Monday, 4-8 p.m. (Prayer service 8 p.m.) Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 20 E. Dominion Blvd. Father Kevin J. Kavanagh, Celebrant.

Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
