Norman L. Abbott, 75, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Midland Hospice House.

Norman was born July 26, 1931 in Smith County, Kansas, the son of Earl and Melba (Spurrier) Abbott.

He retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 21 years, serving in both Korea and Vietnam, retiring with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.

Norman married Judy on January 6, 1956 in Raton, New Mexico. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
She survives. Other survivors include their children; Rod Abbott and wife, Shannon, Broken Arrow, OK, Cathy Hodges, Topeka; grandchildren, Stephanie Bammas and husband, Ben, Matt Hodges, Shantelle, Kaitlynn and Hailey Abbott; brother, Morse Abbott and wife, Julia; and a sister, Carol Kellogg.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Road, Topeka, KS 66617.
