Alice and her husband, J. Lorin, were murdered in their orchard while going out to do the irrigating. A man was on their property killing another woman and they happened along at the wrong time. Alice was shot twice in the head through the windshield of their car. The killer then walked over to the car door opened the door and let her lifeless body fall to the ground and he then got in his own car and drove away. He was later convicted of murder of four people and died in the mental hospital in Provo, Utah during a 30 day evaluation ordered by the judge when they protested the conviction. A mob formed outside the courtroom threatening to lynch the man in support of the East/Atkinson family along with the other two victims.
Alice and J. Lorin left two kids (a girl Lorene 17, and a boy Glen 14). The kids were raised by Alice's sister Winnie and her husband. Alice and Lorin were married on December 23 1915.
