Longtime official of county dies
Funeral services for A.B. Carothers, 79, of Lometa were conducted Sunday afternoon in First Baptist Church of Lometa with the Rev. Brent Ray officiating. Interment followed in Senterfitt Cemetery near Lometa. Mr. Carothers died Saturday at his residence. Born March 29, 1910, in Lometa, Mr. Carothers had resided in Lampasas County for most of his life. He was a rancher and retired county commissioner, a post he held for many years.Mr. Carothers married Loduska Lacewell Feb. 22, 1934, in Lometa. He was a member of Lometa's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Loduska Carothers of Lometa; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Honeycutt of Lometa; a sister, Mrs. Opal Smith of Lometa; two brothers, Oran Carothers of Goldthwaite and Grady Carothers of Salinas, Calif.; and a granddaughter, D'Ann Habecker.
Pallbearers were Jerry Carothers, Nathan Carothers, Bill Smith, Troy Duncan, Mickhey Lacewell, Bill Wittenburg and Mart Adams.
Memorial Funeral Home of Lampasas was in charge of arrangements.
