Kenesaw resident George H. Wittwer, 71, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings.

Mr. Wittwer was born November 11, 1926, to Orville and Golda (Wilson) Wittwer at Red Cloud. He attended elementary school in the Red Cloud area. He worked for Elmer Finningsmier from 1941-50. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-51. He worked for Dale Finningsmier for 23 years, retiring in 1990. He then worked two years part-time for Clinton Bender and five years part-time for Rick Dornhoff. On January 10, 1956, he married Mary Sidlo in Hastings. He moved to Kenesaw in 1964.

He was a member of Kenesaw American Legion Post No. 268, Kenesaw Volunteer Fire Department, Eagles Aerie No. 592 of Hastings, and Kenesaw Senior Center.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Goldie Dornhoff, Heartwell and Roxine Worlein, Hastings; two sons, George F. of Pauline and Garry of Heartwell; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Kenesaw United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beverly Minor officiating. Burial with military rites provided by Kenesaw American Legion Post No. 268 were at Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw. Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, was in charge of arrangements.
