There is very little known about the life of Acy Nelson Garrard. He married Sarah Frances Cutler, November 25, 1914, had two children, and left. They eventually divorced. Acy has no other known children, His last known residence was Pocatello, ID in 1956. Ace Leroy (Acy's son) found his father's name in a phone book but was not able to contact him. Acy's granddaughter, who never met him, looked for him for 30 years before finally reading a news article indicating that he had at one time lived in Colorado. She was then able to eventually find a death certificate and where he had been laid to rest.
In the photograph of Acy working in a leather shop, we surmise he knew how to work with leather - making saddles, etc.
Ace LeRoy Garrard lived with his dad, Acy, a couple of times during his life. At the age of 16, Ace remembers living with his dad in Pocatello, ID, and having to leave to go back and live with his mother in the state of Washington so his dad could go on "relief" (welfare). He never saw his dad again.
