Mrs. Helen B. Cain, 99, of Urbandale, Iowa, formerly of Niota, Illinois passed away Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Senior Suites in Urbandale.

She was born September 24, 1910 in Powellton, Illinois, the daughter of Albert Ray and Georgia Cordell Miller. On August 1, 1931 she married Leonard S. "Bud" Cain in Carthage, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2001.

Mrs. Cain was a graduate of the Colusa, Illinois High School. She and her husband farmed in Pontoosuc Township for many years. She was a member of the Appanoose-Faith Presbyterian Church, Niota, Illinois where she served as church organist for many years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Grace Chapter #67 in Carthage, Illinois.

Surviving are two sons, John Robert Cain of Peoria, Illinois and Charles William Cain of Thibodaux, Louisiana, two daughters, Sarah Jane Hoenig and Cynthia Jane Cain both of Urbandale, 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grand children, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Alice Belle Ruschill and one brother, Albert Miller.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 12, 2009 at the Appanoose-Faith Presbyterian Church, near Niota, Illinois with Ron Leonard officiating. Burial will be in the Myers Cemetery near Niota. Eastern Star Rites will be held at 5:00 P.M. Sunday, October 11th at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City followed by visitation with the family until 7:00P.M. A memorial fund has been established for the Appanoose - Faith Presbyterian Church.
